The past 2 weeks of Government...

I have learned so much these past two weeks of government.  Gmail was a new experience for me.  I've never had a Gmail so I was excited to see what it was all about.  I had no idea you could share documents so that multiple people could edit the document at the same time.  I feel our projects can get done a lot faster with everyone working instead of just one person typing and doing all the work.  Working in a team is hard work.  As a team leader I have to make sure everyone is staying on task and we are making our deadlines.  Some days this week members of my group were not in class so everyone else had to step up in order to finish.  Overall I think my group worked really well together.  We finished ahead of time and our page turned out very neat and easy to follow.

My team researched Voting Regulations and Congressional Elections.  One thing I learned about voting regulations is that Illinois has a "grace period."  The registration deadline inorder to vote is 28 days before the election.  The grace period extends the registration deadline up to 14 days before the election.  This year is the 57th presidential election.  The Senate and House elections also land on the same day as the presidential election, November 6th.  I learned that only 1/3 of the Senate participates in every election and the House is elected back up every 2 years. I also learned we live in District 8.  Since I have never voted I have never paid attention to which district we live in.  The men who represent us are Sen. Richard Durbin, Sen. Mark Kirk, and Representative Joe Walsh.  This is the election year for all three of them so I will pay more attention to the debates.

  2. Hah I love the comments! I am glad to hear that you are enjoying this experience. It is very useful to incorporate technology into the classroom and will hopefully be a beneficial tool in your future. I want to thank you for being such a great team leader! It appears that it has been nothing but a positive, despite sometimes challenging, experience for all of your group members.
